First Sunday of Advent

Tis the Season! —Thanksgiving; Hope; Joy, Peace, and Love

1 Peter 3:15— “set apart”

Paraphrase—Live your life with so much hope, so much joy, so much and so much love, that folks wonder what makes you so different.”

Old Testament Prophecies—

Genesis 3:15—First mention of the Messiah

Giving Thanks

Bible Reading: Psalm 100:4-5 “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” (NIV)

Text: Ephesians 5:17-20

Four levels of gratitude—

Level One—Never give thanks

Level Two—They don’t complain, grumble, or argue, but never give thanks

Level Three—Grateful for the obvious

Level Four—Those who are “always giving thanks”

Question: What do we give thanks for?

Question: Why should be give thanks when tough things happen?

          The word “rapture” is not in the Bible but it is taught.
