Matthew 6:10

Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:31-33 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (NLT)

Your Kingdom Come

#1–Things that are different about God’s Kingdom

          No borders.

          No walls.

No restrictions on gender, ethnicity, or age.

          John 3:16

#2—The Kingdom of God is “counter-cultural.”

          Sermon on the Mount—

Character traits of those in the Kingdom: forgiving; humble; loving; trusting; compassionate; serving; submitted.

#3—The Kingdom of God starts in our heart.

          1 John 1:9; Romans 6:23

The purpose of God’s Kingdom is not to topple other kingdoms but to topple sin. To make us new (2 Corinthians 5:17)

God showed us the way His Kingdom works by everything out of something small. Great faith comes from a small mustard seed. And a great Savior came from Mary’s baby boy, Jesus.

Pictures of Jesus

On the podcast for this week, we talked about the falsehood of Jesus watching us from “a distance.”

He’s watching us, but He’s near to us. And He has come to help; He is willing to help; and He is able to help, no matter the need.

Here’s the list of Scriptures I read during the Podcast along with a couple of others that might be helpful to you in your walk with Jesus.

Matthew 28:20 “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

John 14:18 “I will not leave you as orphans;”

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Hebrews 13:5 “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

James 4:8 “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;”

Numbers 23:19 “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

Malachi 3:6 ““I the Lord do not change.”

1 John 3:8 “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”

1 John 4:4 “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

Feel free to download these Scriptures, write them out, keep them close, memorize them, and share them with a friend.

Blessings.

Luke 24:13-27

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4a “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” (NLT)

The Road to Emmaus

Luke 24:16–Jesus Comes Incognito

Luke 24:17–A Sad Conversation

Luke 24:25—O Foolish Ones

Luke 24:27—Moses and the Prophets

          Matthew 5:17

Genesis 3:15—The first Messianic Prophecy

Psalm 22:16—His hands and feet would be pierced

Psalm 22:18—They cast lots for His garment

Isaiah 53—wounded and bruised; stripes on His back; wouldn’t defend Himself; beaten beyond human recognition; betrayed by a friend for 30 pieces of silver.

Four Things About These Disciples:

  • They believed that Jesus of Nazareth was a prophet sent from God.
  • They believed that His works validated His claim to be the Son of God.
  • They believed Jesus had been crucified by the High Priests and rulers of the nation.
  • They believed Jesus was the one who was going to redeem Israel.

Jesus came to them in their disappointment and confusion and He will do the same for you.

Easter: More Than a Holiday

1 Peter 1:18-19

Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:8-10 “And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,” (NIV)

1 Peter 1:18-19—Without blemish and without spot

Redeemed—

A lamb without blemish and without spot—

A humble King—

Fully as man—

Hebrews 4:15—A High Priest who understands.

Isaiah 53:7—He was a willing sacrifice.

          Matthew 26:62-63—Before Caiaphas

          Matthew 27:12-14—Before Pilate

          Luke 23:9—Before King Herod Antipas

Matthew 26:53—More than 70,000 angels at His disposal.

Our sin creates a need for a Savior. Our sin creates a barrier between us and God. Jesus is our Savior. Jesus takes away our sin. Jesus restores our relationship with God by removing the barrier of sin.

The plan was for Jesus to become the acceptable, perfect, without blemish, without spot, once and for all sacrifice for our sin.

John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
