Colossians 1:15-20

Scripture Reading: Psalm 95:1-3 “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord. Let us shout out praises to our Protector who delivers us. Let us enter his presence with thanksgiving. Let us shout out to him in celebration. For the Lord is a great God, a great king who is superior to all gods.” (NET)

“Preeminent: There is no one like Him. He is First; He is the Highest in rank; He surpasses all others; and He has a supreme position of honor and leadership.”

Colossians 1:15–The visible image of the invisible God

          Hebrews 1:1-3—

          John 14:9–

Colossians 1:15— “first born over all creation.”

Firstborn—Jesus was not created. He is God. He has existed from before the beginning of time.

John 1:1-2, 14—

Jesus is preeminent over all creation; Jesus has authority over all creation; Jesus was the Creator, not the created.

Colossians 1:16— “by Him.”

Colossians 1:16— “for Him.”

          John 1:3—

          Hebrews 1:2—

Jesus, as the image of the invisible God, showed up the plan of God in the creation.

Colossians 1:17—Jesus sustains all that He created.
