Colossians 1:15-20

Scripture Reading: Psalm 95:1-3 “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord. Let us shout out praises to our Protector who delivers us. ² Let us enter his presence with thanksgiving. Let us shout out to him in celebration. ³ For the Lord is a great God, a great king who is superior to all gods.” (NET)

“Preeminent: There is no one like Him. He is First; He is the Highest in rank; He surpasses all others; and He has a supreme position of honor and leadership.”

Colossians 1:15–The visible image of the invisible God

          Hebrews 1:1-3—

          John 14:9–

Colossians 1:15— “first born over all creation.”

Firstborn—Jesus was not created. He is God. He has existed from before the beginning of time.

John 1:1-2, 14—

Jesus is preeminent over all creation; Jesus has authority over all creation; Jesus was the Creator, not the created.

Colossians 1:16— “by Him.”

Colossians 1:16— “for Him.”

          John 1:3—

          Hebrews 1:2—

Jesus, as the image of the invisible God, showed up the plan of God in the creation.

Colossians 1:17—Jesus sustains all that He created.
