Lamentations 3:22-23

Scripture Reading: Psalm 86:11-13 “Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.” (NIV)

Lamentations—A funeral dirge for the city of Jerusalem, written by the prophet Jeremiah.

Mercies— “new every morning”

1 Corinthians 13:4-8—A picture of love as modeled by Jesus.

Puffed up—

Not provoked—

John 4:16—God is love.

God’s love for us is not influenced by others.

God’s love for us is eternal and unfailing.

God’s love for us is deep, it’s wide, it’s high and it’s long.

Ephesians 3:14-19—Paul’s second Apostolic Prayer

Isaiah 49:15-16—Our names are inscribed on the palms of God’s hands.

Mark 12:30-31–

Galatians 5:22-23—the fruit of God the Holy Spirit in us.

John 3:16-17 ““For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Galatians 5:22-23

Scripture Reading: Psalm 100 “Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his.  We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever and his faithfulness continues to each generation.” (NLT)

Romans 15:13—hope, peace, and joy come from God

          Not based upon circumstances

          Not temporary

          A chosen response to life

Philippians 4:4—Paul made a choice to rejoice.

Habakkuk 3:17-18—The Lord is our source of joy.

Psalm 16:11—fullness of joy.

1 John 1:1-4—that your joy may be complete.

John 15:9-11—Abide.

John 16:22—Joy that cannot be taken from you.

JOY—Jesus first…..Others next……But don’t forget Yourself!

Peace: Second Sunday of Advent

John 14:27; Isaiah 9:6

Scripture Reading: Psalm 4:8; 29:11; 85:7-8; 119:165; “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” “The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.” “Show us your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people.” “Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble.”

John 14:27—

Troubled— confused; disturbed; startled; or terrified.

Heart—our inner being. Our thoughts, our emotions, our will, our intellect.

Isaiah 9:6—Government upon His shoulders—

Isaiah 40:4—Wonderful Counselor—eliminates obstacles to peace.

Prince of Peace—Jesus speaks as the “Prince of Peace” in John 14:27

John 14:16-18—Another Helper

We will not be left as orphans (fatherless)

Peace—Completeness; Wellbeing; Restoration.

Joel 2:25; John 10:10; 1 John 3:8b

Inner Peace, not just an outward manifestation

Galatians 3:26-29—Peace enables us to work together.

          Heirs to the promise of Abraham—

1 Peter 3:15–….” you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. 16 But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.” (NLT)
