Review: Our prayers are heard; You are highly esteemed; Our prayers cause things to happen in the heavenlies.

Four Possible Ways our Prayers are answered:

1—Yes!

2—No.

3–Wait.

4—How About This?

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 4:16 “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (NIV)

Daniel 9:20-23a

          V23— “As soon as you began to pray….”

          V23b— “You are highly esteemed.”

Daniel 10:11-14

          V11- An angel shows up.

          V12— “Since the first day.”

          V13—Daniel’s prayer started a war in the heavenlies.

Four possible answers to our prayers.

#1—Yes!

#2—No.

#3—Wait.

#4—How about this?

Conclusion:

Hebrews 11:32-33

“obtained promises.”

Hebrews 11:39-40

God had something better in store.

Romans 8:31-34

Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 1:7 “God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid but a spirit of power and love and self-control.” (NCV)

Verses 31-34—a summary of Romans 5-8

Opposition from our past; from others, and from Satan (John 10:10)

Luke 4:13—Satan is relentless.

Verse 32—Because God is for us……

He sent His Son.

He works for our good.

He promises eternal life.

Verse 33—God has declared us to be justified.

In Christ, we do not have a past. We only have a future.

          Psalm 103:12—our sin is gone!

Verse 34

#1—Jesus is making intercession on our behalf

#2—Jesus is our Advocate (lawyer) in heaven.

#3—We are saved to the uttermost.

God is for us!

  • Praise is something we must be taught.
  • Praise is something we must choose to do.
  • Praise must be intentional.

David lists four things to give God praise for:

#1—Verse 3—God is great.

#2—Verses 8-9—God is gracious and merciful.

#3—Verse14—God sustains all who fall.

#4—Verse 17—God is righteous and kind.
