Bible Reading: Psalm 111:1-4
Texts: 2 Peter 1:16-21; Luke 9:28-32; Matthew 5:18
Review from last week: 2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture–
God breathed—
Infallible—Absolutely trustworthy or sure. Unfailing in effectiveness or operation. Immune from failing or leading to error.
2 Peter 1:16-21—What is Peter talking about?
Luke 9:28-32—Mount of Transfiguration
Peter, James and John saw the glory of God, thrust upon Jesus and heard the voice of God announcing who Jesus was
Two thoughts from 2 Peter 1:19-21
Thought #2–How Scripture came about—“moved by the Holy Spirit”
Thought #1—we have “a surer or a more certain word” “a more sure word”
When the Holy Spirit “breathed” and “moved” upon men, we were given a “more sure word” than what Peter saw, as an eyewitness.
Matthew 5:18 “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth shall pass away, not one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the Law till all is fulfilled.”
